摘要：

霍桑是十丸世纪美国文学史上一个充满思想矛盾、精神忧郁孤独的心理浪漫主义小说家,他以深刻细腻的心理描写和丰富而晦涩难懂的象征手法相结合,使其小说,尤其是短篇小说创作在美国文坛独树一帜。目前,我国对其短篇小说的研究略显不足。本文力求从霍桑的人生经历、宗教意识及人性观的角度对其短篇小说《胎记》进行分析。

Abstract: Nathaniel Hawthorne is a conflicting, melancholy romantic novelist, whose writings are quite unique with the combination of exquisite psychological description and obscure symbolic features. Nowadays there is not much research on his short stories in China. This article is to analyze one of his stories The Birthmark in perspective of his life, religious view and human nature.
